CoD: MW4 DLC Honors Real-Life Hero Kyle Carpenter

Have you ever wondered what it's like to step into the role of a real-life hero? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 offers that chance with its first DLC, and it's all for a great cause.

On October 23, Activision revealed details about the Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack, which launches alongside the game. This time, you'll play as Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter, who did something incredibly brave back in 2010.

Picture this: While Carpenter was in Marjah, Afghanistan, a grenade landed near his fellow Marine, Nick Eufrazio. Without a second thought, he threw himself on top of the grenade to save his friend. The explosion left him unconscious for five weeks, knocked out his teeth, and cost him an eye. He suffered numerous life-threatening injuries but survived. In 2014, President Barack Obama awarded him the Medal of Honor.

Carpenter's words in the promotional video sum up his mindset: "No matter how messed up the world gets, the world keeps turning." That's some serious resilience.

The best part? All proceeds from this DLC go to the Call of Duty Endowment, Activision's charity that helps veterans find jobs after their service. So you're not just getting cool in-game content—you're making a real difference.

This isn't the first time CoD has done something like this. Remember the Black Ops 7 pack featuring Chris Cassidy? He was one of the first responders who hunted Osama bin Laden after the 9/11 attacks and later became a NASA astronaut. Pretty cool lineage, right?

Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, but if you pre-ordered, you can jump into the beta right now. Haven't pre-ordered yet? Don't worry—the open beta runs from August 28 to September 1. You can try it out before you buy.

Will you pick up the Valor Pack to support the cause? Let us know in the comments!
