Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 announces October release date and more anime news

Have you ever wondered what it's like to dive back into the chaos cloaked in Night City's neon? Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is back for a second season. Netflix has just revealed the release date along with a new teaser.

At Anime NYC, Netflix unveiled its stacked lineup of anime announcements, the biggest of which is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which begins streaming on October 20. The new trailer offers a glimpse into Night City's seedy underbelly and introduces a new cast of characters. This season follows the vanished legend Weak, the revenge-seeking Nomad D, the chrome-obsessed Talia and the young film buff Roman, unfolding across 10 episodes that explore themes of family, obsession and legacy. Expect plenty of blood, neon and cyberpsychosis.

But that's not all. Bass X Machina reimagines Bass Reeves, the real-life figure who escaped slavery and became the first Black deputy marshal, as a wild western. In this steampunk world, Bass is a cyborg on a mission of revenge. Produced by Mappa and Madhouse and starring Brian Tyree Henry, it releases on November 3.

Sakamoto Days: Season 2 also got a teaser, but the animation is light on details. It introduces new characters set to play major roles: Amane, Satoda Etsuko and Yotsumura. The second season of this hit series about a retired assassin releases in January 2027.

Fool Night, an adaptation of Yasuda Kasumi's manga, is set in a dystopian future where the Earth is plunged into eternal night. Animated by Sunrise and Shaft, it follows Kamiya Toshiro, whose life is ruined after undergoing a dangerous procedure to pay for his mother's medical bills. It debuts on November 26.

Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 moves the action from 17th-century Japan to London as Mizu continues her revenge-fueled journey. It arrives in January 2027.

And for pure joy, Lego One Piece brings the live-action cast to the Grand Line in Lego form and shows Usopp narrating the story. It releases on September 29. Studio Wit's The One Piece, a reimagining of Luffy's early adventures, also got new key art. It premieres in 2027.
