Best weekend deals: Big discounts on Switch 2, Final Fantasy, and more

Want a major gaming upgrade this weekend without completely emptying your wallet? On Saturday, August 22, there are some very tempting discounts across major consoles, hit games, and collectibles. Whether you need new hardware or are looking for your next epic adventure, a variety of deals are ready for you. Now is the time.

If you've been waiting to get your hands on a Nintendo Switch 2, you'd better act fast. The console is set to rise in price in just a few weeks, but Woot is currently selling Grade A refurbished units for $399.99. According to Woot, these systems function like new, have minimal cosmetic wear, and have all previous user data completely removed. Best of all, they include all genuine accessories like the Dock, so you get a complete setup right out of the box.

Switch 2 players can also fill out their RPG library on a budget. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is discounted to $34.99 on Amazon, and this physical edition includes an exclusive Zack Fair Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy card for collectors. If you still need to start the story from the beginning, go with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. It's discounted to $29.99 on Switch 2. This lets you guide Cloud Strife and his team through Midgar, making it the perfect way to get ready before Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches next year.

There are great options for horror and action fans too. Target is offering Resident Evil Requiem for $53.99 this weekend. Team up with Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy to face sinister threats ahead of the upcoming DLC release, which mixes tense horror with brutal combat. Meanwhile, if you're playing on PS5, Best Buy has Nioh for $30 off. In our 9/10 review, we praised the title for delivering "top-tier combat that revitalizes the established formula with a fantastic split between samurai and ninja styles and a successful move to an open-world structure."

Prefer large-scale strategy on screen? On Amazon, physical copies of Civilization VII are $20 off, bringing the price down to $19.99. In our 7/10 review, we mentioned interface simplifications that may divide longtime fans, but improved warfare and gameplay still offer plenty of "reasons to keep clicking just one more time late into the night." narrative touch.

Finally, if you want something to make your off-screen space more comfortable, Woot has the LEGO Tropical Aquarium for $399.99, saving you $70 off the regular price. It's made up of over 4,000 pieces and includes multiple fish, coral reefs, a crab, and a hidden treasure chest. Which of these weekend deals will you choose?
