Low-Cost Reroll Guide: Full Process from Early Game to Late Game

Learn low-cost reroll strategies. Set up your item path at stage 2, stabilize with rolls at stage 3, pivot at stage 4, and know whether to push for 9th or play for 4th.

1. Stage 2 Opening: Best early traits, key low-cost carries, and item crafting logic in the first 3 PvE rounds

For low-cost reroll comps at the start of the set, prioritize core item components such as attack speed, B.F. Sword, and Chain Vest in the shared draft. In 2-1, if items dropped from PvE rounds can be combined into a completed item, prioritize frontline items (Sunfire Cape, Bramble Vest) or damage items (Guinsoo's Rageblade, Infinity Edge), depending on whether your low-cost carry deals physical or magic damage.

Best early traits: The best early traits in Stage 2 are 3 Cybernetic or 2 Bruiser/2 Vanguard paired with 2 Ranger, or 2 Mage. For example, Vi+Blitzcrank+Lucian or Tahm Kench+Kog'Maw+Caitlyn can preserve HP while saving economy. If you have 3 Mecha-Prime (e.g., Ziggs+Rumble) from the start, that's a great choice for an easy win streak.

Key low-cost carries: Among 1-cost units, Kog'Maw, Caitlyn, Kayle, and Fiora are excellent early carriers, especially Kog'Maw equipped with Guinsoo's Rageblade and Runaan's Hurricane, who deals massive damage early. Among 2-cost units, Twisted Fate, Zed, and Yasuo (if you're playing Yasuo reroll) are key, but in Stage 2 you mainly rely on 1-cost carries. Keep 2-cost units based on your comparison.

Item crafting logic for the first three PvE rounds:

  • Win-streak items: If you can combine your early items into Guinsoo's Rageblade, Infinity Edge, or Sunfire Cape and your board quality is good (2-star frontline + 2-star carry), boldly craft them for a win streak. To win in Stage 2, prioritize carry damage items.
  • Loss-streak items: If your components are poor (e.g., 3 Chain Vests) or unit quality is low, don't force crafting. Instead, take the loss streak to build economy. Later, prioritize saving Recurve Bows, B.F. Swords, and Chain Vests for core items. Make sure you don't take too much damage while loss streaking. In Stage 2, aim to lose no more than 30 HP.

2. Stage 3 Leveling and Stabilizing: Should you level to 6 at 3-2? When should you roll down to stabilize? How do you transition smoothly into the mid game?

At 3-2, if your HP is healthy (above 70) and your economy is good (above 50 gold), you can level to 6, but low-cost reroll comps usually want to roll for 3-star 1-cost units at level 6, so don't rush leveling.

Should you level to 6 at 3-2?: If you're playing a 1-cost reroll (e.g., Kog'Maw or Caitlyn reroll), don't level to 6 at 3-2. Stay at level 5 and apply interest until your key 1-cost is 3-star. If you're playing a 2-cost reroll (e.g., Twisted Fate or Zed reroll), you can level to 6 at 3-2 since 2-cost units have higher odds at level 6.

When should you roll down to stabilize: If your key 1-cost is 1-2 copies away from 3-star, or your HP drops below 50, you should roll down (roll down to 20-30 gold) to find units. The criteria for stabilizing is a 3-star core carry and 2-star frontline, which can beat most boards. Once you achieve a 3-star carry, you can stabilize even with low HP.

Smooth transition into the mid game: To reroll a comp, you need frontline and damage in the mid game. For example, if you're rerolling Kog'Maw, use Bruisers (Illaoi, Rek'Sai) as frontline and Kog'Maw + Caitlyn as damage. In Stage 3, get 3 Cybernetic or 2 Bruiser + 2 Ranger to strengthen your power. If you can't achieve 3-star, use 2-star units as placeholders. Don't force rolls; save gold and roll again in Stage 4.

3. 4-1/4-2 Transition Timing: When to level to 7/8 and sell your carry for a big swap? Substitute units if you can't find core 4/5-costs

When playing reroll comps at 4-1, the key 3-star is usually already hit, so you can level to 7 and start looking for 4-cost cores (e.g., Zeri, Jinx) or synergies. If the core isn't 3-star yet, keep rolling at level 6. However, since opponents' boards get stronger in stage 4, you should level to 7 by 4-2.

When to level to 7/8 and sell your carry for a big swap: Once your key carry is 3-star and you're level 7, sell excess carries (e.g., Caitlyn) and add 4-cost units from your comp (e.g., Zeri) or high-quality frontline (e.g., Tahm Kench). If your economy is good, level to 8 at 4-5 or 5-1 to find 5-cost units (e.g., Urgot, Heimerdinger) and raise your ceiling.

Fallback options when you can't find core 4/5-costs:

  • If you can't roll back into Kog'Maw and Zeri, use Jinx or Miss Fortune instead. Items are interchangeable.
  • If you can't find Zed and Shen in a reroll play, use Leona or Nilah as your frontline.
  • If you can't find Yasuo and his 5-cost counterpart (Yone), use 4-cost Kai'Sa or Fiora instead.

Principle of substitutions: same trait, same item type, can activate key traits.

4. Economy Management: Win-Streak to Level 9 for 3-Star 4-Costs vs. Lose-Streak for Top 4 – Economic Thresholds

Economy is the lifeline of reroll comps.

Win-streak to level 9 for 3-star 4-costs: If you hit your 3-star core in stage 3, have 70+ HP, and 50+ gold, win-streak to level 7, then save gold to level 8 and save up to level 9. After reaching level 9, use your excess gold to roll for 3-star 4-costs (e.g., Zeri, Jinx). Economic threshold: you must keep at least 30 gold before leveling to 9, otherwise you risk collapsing.

Lose-streak into top 4: If your HP is below 40, or your core is 3-star but your items are poor, don't aim for level 9. Prioritize rolling at level 7 to improve your board quality so you can win late-game fights. When behind, lower your economic threshold to 20 gold to avoid an economic collapse, then save to 30 gold before rolling again. If your HP drops to 30 or below in stage 4, go all-in and roll down to save the game.

In summary, push toward the limit boldly when ahead. When behind, preserve HP and play for placement. The key to low-cost reroll comps is: stage 2 preserve HP or economy, stage 3 stabilize, stage 4 transition, stage 5 decide based on economy whether to go level 9 or play for top 4. Remember not to be rigid and to adapt flexibly.
