Spring Umbrella Guide: How to Buy and Use in Where Winds Meet

Have you ever found yourself wishing you could deal damage without getting your hands dirty? In Where Winds Meet, you can do exactly that with the Vernal Umbrella. It's a ranged DPS spear that can also act as a floating turret, raining missiles down on enemies while you keep your distance. But how do you get your hands on this unique weapon? Let's break it down.

First off, the Vernal Umbrella is one of four weapon martial arts you can get from Qi Sheng at the start of the campaign. All you have to do is return the Mystic Oddity to him, and he'll let you choose your reward. If you're early in the game, grabbing this weapon or the Thundercry Blade is a smart move. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until you reach the Kaifeng region, where you can get it through the normal method.

So what's the "normal method"? Head to the Time Tower in Kaifeng City, the headquarters of the Velvet Shade sect. There, you can use Skill Theft to capture it from Hua Zhiqing. But first, you'll need to complete a simple quest that starts when you talk to the Page Boy nearby. Pretty simple, right?

Now, why bother? The Vernal Umbrella is a beast at range. You can deal serious damage while keeping your distance from enemies, and it also comes with crowd control capabilities. You can immobilize enemies, making it a solid choice for dealing with groups. When you use its special skill, it transforms into a floating turret that fires missiles while you continue attacking. Pretty sweet.

But here's the catch: the Vernal Umbrella uses a unique resource called Blossom. Activating the special skill consumes Blossom. To keep track of your Blossom, check the weapon icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. You'll see pink leaves growing along a vine. The more leaves that fill up, the more Blossom you have stacked. So keep an eye on it and plan your attacks accordingly.

One more thing: the Vernal Umbrella was originally called the Ninefold Umbrella, so don't be confused if you see that name in some tooltips. Same weapon, same awesomeness.

So whether you get it early from Qi Sheng or later from Hua Zhiqing, the Vernal Umbrella is a fantastic addition to any ranged DPS build. Did this guide help you get yours? Let us know in the comments!
