Where Winds Meet: 5 Essential Early Game Tips

Lost in the vast world of Where Winds Meet? You're not alone. There's so much to see and do that it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But don't worry—we have a game plan to help you head in the right direction. Here are 5 things to do early on for a powerful start.

First things first: use codes to get free currency. Once the tutorial is over, open the menu, go to Settings, then the Misc tab, and click the Redeem Code arrow. Enter any active codes you've found to get free currency items (check our guide for the latest codes). Then go back to the main menu and open the Letters tab to claim your rewards in the inbox.

Next, let's talk about a quick quest that gets you a great weapon. Head toward the regular shrine, and you'll hear a man calling for help. He's trapped between some rocks. Help him to start a short quest. He'll give you a fire arrow and ask you to shoot the wasp nest in a nearby tree. Once it catches fire, climb the tree and grab the melody, then return it to him. He'll reward you with one of four martial arts and a matching weapon. Choose the umbrella or the Mo Blade—these are the best choices, or else you'll have to wait until the next region to get them.

While at the General's Shrine, before leaving with Ruby, talk to the boy who lost his Qiuqiu ball in the pit. Use Mighty Drop (jump, then press L3 on controller or Q on keyboard) to slam into the ground and fall into the General's Underground Shrine below. Inside, you'll find the boy's ball along with plenty of loot like Fire Arrows, Dual Blades, Cloud Steps Mystic Skill, and various currencies. At the end, you'll face a boss named Zhang Lang. Use the explosive barrels to quickly lower his health, then grab the golden chest. After defeating him, bow three times in front of the statue to unlock a chest containing an appearance unlock and more currency. Once you're back on the surface, return the ball to the boy for a Wandering Tales quest with generous rewards.

Now that you have Vibrant Jade and Coins, it's time to power up. Open the development menu to upgrade your martial arts and enhance your gear. Upgrading martial arts significantly boosts your damage, even up to your character level. Enhancing equipment slots gives bonus max HP, defense, or attack as long as you have the gear. Spend your Coins on martial arts upgrades and Vibrant Jade on gear enhancement—with your new wealth, you should be able to get everything to Level 2.

Lastly, don't forget to upgrade your medicine box. It's your lifeline in combat. You'll need medicinal stories, which you can get from quests and encounters. Once you have enough, a message will appear on the map. Go to the Evercare Clinic west of Qinghe and talk to Yaoyaoyao to submit medicinal books and increase the capacity and efficiency of your healing items.
