Where Winds Meet Co-op Guide: How to Play With Friends

Wondering how to play with friends in Where Winds Meet without ruining your solo progress? Or curious what those yellow signposts do? You're in the right place. Where Winds Meet is a solo game, but multiplayer is where it really shines. Want to dive into a bustling online world, or just kick back and relax? Friends, this guide walks you through all the multiplayer options.

First, you need to know the difference between Online Mode and Co-op Mode. They're like two different games, and progress in each is tracked separately. Online Mode is all about a massive shared world. Here you can't progress your personal quests, but you can jump into dungeons, boss fights and other activities listed in the Wandering Path. That's the HS menu. Your Online Mode level determines what you can do in that mode.

Co-op Mode, on the other hand, is a more intimate affair. You can team up with up to 4 people and share the host's personal quest progress. When the host advances a task, if you're close enough to them, you get credit too. Your solo mode level (including Co-op) determines your maximum character level, energy and attributes.

Now let's talk cross-play and cross-progression. Good news: Where Winds Meet automatically supports cross-play, and you can't turn it off. That means PC and PS5 players can play together in Online Mode and matchmaking activities. Cross-progression is also possible, but it requires setup. If you want to switch between PS5 and PC, or round on a different PC, friends, go to Settings > Other, click account binding and follow the prompts to link your account.

So how do you actually use Co-op Mode? It depends on whether you're joining a team or creating one. To join someone else's team, accept an invite in the chat box, or open the social menu, go to Co-op, then enter a co-op code or browse public groups on the left. To start your own team, select Team, then choose Create Team and customize it. You can also press Quick Team to join a group that's looking for members.

While exploring, you may find small yellow signposts labeled "Support." Interact with one and choose Request Ally to invite others to help with a challenge. If you need help and there's no signpost nearby, you can use a Signpost item, which you can buy from merchants or craft. Place it on the ground, write a message, then activate it and choose the Support Invite option. You can even add images and emoticons to make your request stand out. Remember, you need to be in a "Support Area" (usually near a dungeon or boss fight) to enable that option.

So whether you want to take on a tough boss with friends or just roam the world together, Where Winds Meet has you covered. Did this guide help you get started with co-op? Let us know in the comments!
